Overview

Credited as music producer for "Unforgivable."

The sound scheme and struggles of 'Sakura Note'

According to a 2009 interview between developers Akira Ueda and Yasuhiro Wada, "Sakura Note" adopted a Super Nintendo vibe as its sound direction, considering ROM capacity and not using full orchestral streaming recordings for the entire track; Drums and strings were played in sequence, and the number of notes was increased compared to Super Nintendo music at the time.

Ueda requested a battle song with the spirit of the Super Nintendo era, and Uematsu composed the music for the first boss battle.

Ueda also explained that Uematsu wanted to try minimalism, so this work uses vocals and wooden clogs as instrument materials.

Scene transitions with built-in sound sources

Uematsu recalled in 2018 that he had let outdoor music fade away as it entered towns, and town music faded in at the same time; He himself has not confirmed whether this was made during Final Fantasy VII or VIII.

He recalls that before and after Final Fantasy V, he was still producing sound effects: during the FC era, he directly input pitches; during the SFC era, he used sampled audio sources and worked with colleagues; After entering the PlayStation era, the company gradually appointed dedicated sound effects personnel.

Picture books, reading aloud, and live performances

In a 2018 interview, Uematsu introduced the member activities he had already undergone: he wrote stories, staff drew them, and when the screenings were screened, he played and read aloud live music. At that time, the story was divided into thirteen or fourteen chapters, with about nine chapters already accompanied by music.
