Referees and trials

The game was supervised by Kunihiro Matsuo, who previously served as Japan's Prosecutor General. Players act as referees, listen to the opinions of both prosecution and defense, review evidence, and question witnesses and defendants; Other referees also offered their own explanations. The choices made during deliberation affect the conclusion, and the same case may result in different verdicts.

Three-day process

Each case is divided into three days. On the first day, both sides presented their statements and began the evaluation; On the second day, questions are given to witnesses and defendants, continuing the discussion and making guilty or innocent judgments; On the third day, the verdict was announced. Doubts in testimony need to be clarified based on case materials and cannot be judged solely by media reports or first impressions.

The Ghost Bride Arson and Murder Case

Seventy-year-old Kiyo Ayano died in a house fire, and his daughter-in-law Hatsumi Ayano was arrested. She admitted to causing the fire but denied intentional murder. Conflicts between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law and the media-shaped image influence others' judgments—whether the fire was negligent or intentional—is the key to the trial.

University professor insurance payout murder case

Pharmacy professor Manabu Kurahashi died in the lab from cyanide poisoning, and his wife, Megumi Kurahashi, a university employee, was also present at the scene. Debt and insurance money became reasons for her suspicion, and she claimed her husband committed suicide due to work pressure. Players need to compare the explanations of homicide and suicide.

Subsequent cases

The third case is the 'Drunken President Dangerous Driving Fatal Incident,' involving the defendant Kagayako Kagaya and the victim Iwao Furutachi; The fourth case, 'The Serial Murders of the Academy Board Members' Family,' involves Joe Wakamiya, as well as the couple Toshiki Masuoka and Yukie Masuoka. Each of the four cases raises issues of evidence and responsibility that need to be examined.

Release

The game was released in Japan on May 21, 2009, as a single-player NDS software. Fully resolving case questions and drawing correct judgments is an important goal in advancing reasoning content.
