Production coordination for the original "Phantom"
Gen Urobuchi recalled in a Nitroplus interview that when producing the original 2000 "Phantom," besides the script, he was also responsible for the performance script, progress management, and visual material commissioning alone. Sometimes, when the script was behind schedule, he would advance other work first.
Story and branching in a joint design
Speaking about the branches and logo control of "Phantom," Gen Urobuchi said that at the time, he was inspired by works like "Night of the Itachi," and wanted to consider both story and gameplay; Later works took a different direction.
The text of the 2011 "Ghost Cry Street" has been preserved
When remaking "Onikokugai," Gen Urobuchi believed the original text was complete and that technical updates mainly focused on visuals and voice acting, so no major rewrites were made for the sake of revamping. He explained that the new edition also uses the novel text that has been adjusted and expressed for younger age groups, in order to maintain the original balance of the story.
Separate recording brings performance requirements
In the same interview, Gen Urobuchi mentioned that game actors record separately and cannot respond directly to each other like in anime or multi-person radio dramas. Because actors have limited access to character and scene materials, they need to participate in acting guidance; After participating in animation and radio dramas, he also gained a deeper understanding of the difficulties of separate recordings.
The character concept for 'Song of Saya'
Gen Urobuchi, reflecting on 'Saya's Song,' said that the idea of adding female characters ultimately shifted to designing alien lifeforms as girls.
Specification documents and key members
In a conversation on the official website, Xuyuan expressed concern that game specifications rely on the understanding of specific programmers and may not be universally applicable after switching teams; The departure of key members who could share ideas also exposes production's reliance on individual skills.
Tension as entertainment
Urobuchi sees providing players with tension and pressure as his own Nitroplus feature; This is his production philosophy during a conversation on the official website.
