The initial planning and world-building expansion of Neko-nin
According to Whirlpool staff member Araga's 2025 review, the initial planning for the Neko-nin series was discussed jointly with Yu Omitani. They considered translating the work and releasing it overseas on Steam, believing that traditional full-priced games were too lengthy, so they adopted a low-priced title; At the same time, they were required to first create works that embody the Whirlpool worldview and could be recognized in the Japanese market, before launching them overseas.
Yu Omiya reserved room for world-building expansion early in the Neko-Nin series, pre-planning the Koga and Iga factions that had not yet entered the main story. Araga recalled that she was careful not to overly complicate the setting and unexpectedly make the work too serious; Later, when the Spin series developed, he believed that Omitani's early preparations provided the foundation.
