A Blu-ray disc with seven ghosts

As summer vacation approaches, ordinary high school student Shuichi Kanzaki receives a cursed Blu-ray from his friend Jo Kinokuniya, and after playing it, he is haunted by a female spirit. His childhood friend Murasaki Sairenji comes from a temple family and tries to exorcise his spirit, but only removes his grudge, leaving the girl who calls herself the witch Chiyako in the world. Chiyoko then said there were six girl ghosts inside her body, and the incident turned from a spirit-exorcism accident into a summer story of Shuichi meeting seven undead.

A seven-day deadline

Zi explained that the spirit can stay in the mortal world for forty-nine days; Seven girls were assigned to each for only seven days. Therefore, Shuichi must accompany them, helping them through the final stage within a limited time. The official website focuses on encounters and partings, as well as investigating the events the girls get involved in. The story shifts emotions and relationships through the personalities and unfulfilled wishes of different ghosts.

Text adventure and character routes

This work is an all-ages supernatural romance adventure, revolving around Shuichi and the female spirits that appear one by one. The Switch version includes Murasaki's epilogue, 'Purple Envelope Arc,' which tells the story from Murasaki's perspective on the unexplored romantic developments in the main story. The game unlocks the stories of each female protagonist in chapter order; Choices appear during the story, and choices affect subsequent developments.

Version content

The original PC version of LIFE0 was released on September 29, 2017, and the PS Vitamin version was released on July 5, 2018; Vita adds event CG, wallpaper sets, touchscreen controls, and color adjustments. The Nintendo Switch version also includes the epilogue and additional CG for Vita, offering bilingual Japanese-English text and Japanese dubbing (except for the main character), and supports both touchscreen and TV modes.

Sakura, Ichiru Yoiyo

The temporary hosts of the female spirits are the doll, Akabeko, Kokeshi, vacuum cleaner, teddy bear, and stray cat. Sakura, who comes from a farming family, signs up and leaves first, and ends up having breakfast with Shuichi; Ichiru wants to experience the coolness of a delinquent boy, so Shuichi lets her try a fighting game. She went from not knowing how to operate to improving rapidly, and in the end, Qiri said goodbye with a sense of satisfaction.

Kotoha: The emotional knot of my father's remarriage

Kotoha died at the age of nine, and she harbors lingering feelings about her father's remarriage. At first, she is proud and argues with Shuichi, but also tries to prepare food for him; After spending seven days together, she learns to care for others, forgives her father, and expresses gratitude to Shuichi.

Mari: A motherly care and adventure game

Mari fears her mother because of her past experiences, and at first, even Shuichi's mother, Mitsuki, avoids her. Mitsuki's care gradually made her feel warmth at home and changed her thoughts about continuing to live. Murasaki also hosts a TRPG, with Shuichi and Mari playing adventurers rescuing Princess Chiyako, with Kinokuniya participating; The story interweaves real-life battles that determine victory or defeat.

Shizuku: Investigation and Record Retention

Shizuku has been investigating the girls' deaths using computers since early on, and his own seven days revolve around the results of his investigation. Shuichi finds the truth hard to bear, and his narration is interrupted multiple times; Shizuku continued to explain the incident step by step, leaving records before saying goodbye. The wind chimes the girl had bought earlier continued to ring, becoming everyday items left behind by those who had left.

Nene: companionship and two kinds of farewells

Nene relied on a wildcat that could move on its own, watching Shuichi experience the other girls' seven days for a long time. After Zi's advice, she began to reflect on what liking her meant, turning her true wish into comforting Shuichi. Her two good endings either let Shuichi witness her departure, or he was absent to witness her final moments, choosing different ways to say goodbye.
