Training schools
In 1997, Huang Weiyi studied at the Kyoto Mountain Lily Women's Guard Training School. She comes from a samurai family; her father is involved in manufacturing tactical machine weapons, hoping one day to pilot the machines her father made. Shimako Kai, Aki Iwami, and Izumi Noto are her teammates, while Yamashiro Kamisō is another classmate she cares about.
The defense of the capital
In 1998, the BETA entered Japan, and Kyoto also faced the ravages of war. Techniques originally belonging to campus training, obedience, and camaraderie have become survival conditions in actual combat. The story focuses on the young guardian's first battle experience and how this experience will affect Wei Yi's life thereafter.
Command and relatives
Sanada Kozo, who was in charge of training, had fought on the mainland and, after returning home due to injury, strictly guided the students. Kaori Kisaragi from Arashiyama Base is responsible for defense tasks; Kyoko Chongzai is both a soldier and a relative of Weiyi's mother, and her relationship with Weiyi is both family and military.
Adaptation and series positioning
The story was initially released as a bonus novel for purchasing the entire Total Eclipse animated disc, later adapted into a game and released as a standalone work on Steam. It places the narrative before the main story of Total Eclipse, focusing on the Kyoto arc.
Only the distance between the Supreme Commander and the Supreme General
Weiyi serves as a temporary squad leader at the training school, hoping to become an official guard of the Siwei army as soon as possible. The calm and often solitary mountain castle noble Uesō comes from a family of external samurai who has achieved success both militarily and professionally, and his performance seems to fulfill Yui's ideals, making Yui both resonate with and envy her.
The obsession and concern behind the training
Aki Iwami appears careless in class but trains hard where others can't see; She is obsessed with the eight minutes of death, and she has someone she refuses to lose. Noto Izumi worries about whether she can become a Guard, often corresponds with her childhood fiancé who is already in the Eskita Guard, and cherishes a pendant holding their photos.
