"Kuon no Kizuna" is a romance adventure work themed around reincarnation. The story spans four eras including Heian, Genroku, Bakumatsu, and modern times, linking encounters in the present world with connections left a thousand years ago. Later, expanded versions such as the "Zairin Edict" were published.

Modern anomalies
The protagonist was originally an ordinary high school student, but after transfer student Kazuha arrived, his life was gradually disrupted by abnormal events. Bizarre cases occur around him, and he himself constantly experiences inexplicable nightmares. The doubts do not come solely from external events but also point to the hidden power of the "Prince of Darkness" within his soul.
A meeting in the Heian period
In the past, Hotaru carried the mission of assisting the 'True Prince' and formed a bond with him after the onmyoji Takahisa saved him. After they fall in love, Hotaru senses that Takahisa possesses the nature of the 'Prince of Darkness.' Mission demands and personal feelings point in opposite directions, and this contradiction becomes the starting point of relationships that transcend eras.
A reunion of four eras
The same causes continue under different societies and identities, and problems that were previously unresolved re-enter the lives of modern people. Thus, the work places the historical and present chapters as components of the same relationship. The mobile version of "The Second Arrival Edict" also centers on this cross-era connection.
Modern human networks
Yumen Wu lived at the Zhai family and had known Zai Shi since childhood; Shiori's mother, Setsuko, is also a relative of his. Take's close friend Taiichi is also attracted to Kazuha, while Sayo, a Japanese language teacher, and Satoko, a senior student studying mysticism, connect their school life to their past connections.
Three chapters intertwined with the era
The main storyline is divided into three chapters: the modern and Heian arc in spring, the modern and Genroku arc in summer, and the modern and Bakumatsu arc from autumn to early winter. The choices players make in different eras affect what unfolds afterward.
