Characters and relationships
A boy who uses a brush to repair lost characters in picture books can also use the pen as a knife. He claims that in the past, he traveled through various stories with Bai Ji, correcting any distortions.
The identity in The Tales of the Flower Companion
In reality, the boy once communicated with a girl in a storage room, and when he grew up, he sought to become an adopted son of a prestigious family to bridge social barriers. When a girl is gravely ill, he tells stories by her bedside; The image of the black pen is connected to his memories and storytelling.
The prototype for Bai Ji's partner
Nozomi Kaihara originally conceived the idea of a boy in black reading a story to a girl in white. The original story was later abandoned, but the images of the two remained; The official creation emphasizes the partnership between the unwavering Black Pen and the Bai Ji, who cares for everyone.
A will beneath the calm surface
In his official message, Kato Wataru understood Heibi as a boy who appears calm and seemingly cold on the outside, but has a passionate heart and a strong will.
