Production and performance

Planning and on-site reporting for "Root Film."
In a discussion published in February 2020, Yoshimi Yasuda explained that the topics sparked by the previous work diverged from their original intentions, so he launched the project "Root Film" as a mainstream project aimed at mystery enthusiasts. He hoped to try the remaking of text adventure games by Hifumi Kono at the time; Kono also proposed a collaboration between Yasuda as producer and himself as director, and the two sides jointly advanced the project.
"Root Film" continued to choose Shimane because the prefecture wanted to expand its scope from Matsue City to the entire prefecture. Yoshimi Yasuda and Hifumi Kono conducted five days of field research, and an accident on Oki Island was used as a trick. According to Yasuda's recollection, Kono also included the places they visited and the restaurants in the game.
Lead voice acting and invitations to local collaborations
When selecting the voice actor for the protagonist of "Root Film," the staff first proposed candidates, and Komada Wataru was invited after receiving the most recommendations. Yasuda Yoshimi also invited Negoshix, a native of Shimane, to appear in the game as himself to promote Shimane together with the local community.
