Manliu's classmate, from the countryside, kind-hearted. The most sensible among the three, often mediates when Manryu and Yuo argue, dislikes being called 'omaru.'
Twilight Arc (Original Trilogy)
At the beginning of the original trilogy, 'The Boundary at Dusk,' Kotaro falls down the stairs and is saved by Kuga. While saving someone, Kuga stepped on a sealed sculpture, and the two were required to join the Special Case Investigation Division.
In the latter part of 'Twilight Borderline,' after Kotaro and Kuga are attacked by Yuuo, they continue their investigation and discover that Shizuharu is the attacker of the student fainting and amnesia, and that she is leading students into a summoning array to test their magic offering abilities.
Shadow Arc (original trilogy)
In the original trilogy, 'When the Night Breaks of the Afterimage,' after investigators destroy the magic circle summoning the nighttime world, Kotaro collapses from exhaustion of magic and then disappears. Following this change, Yuu began to further investigate the details of the school fire from twenty years ago.
Shadow Chapter
During the dream investigation, Kotaro falls into the water and appears as a young girl.
