Transfer students and urban changes
On the night of the full moon, a mysterious bombing occurred in the Third New Tokyo City, but NERV received no orders to deploy. The next day, Mana appears as a transfer student and actively approaches Shinji. Asuka suspects her actions are related to NERV, while Shinji gradually becomes attracted to her.
The unfolding of an original story
Players advance Shinji's relationships with Shinji, Mama, and the original characters through choices, with different story developments. The game retains the main voice cast of the anime, with production staff involved in the anime, using familiar characters to depict an original event; His real name is not the transfer student from the original main storyline of the TV anime.
1997 original work and special episode
The 1997 original has since seen multiple ports. CyberFront launched Windows Special in 2006, announcing new features including two scenes, an ending, and higher-resolution visuals. These are supplements to special editions; when introducing the original version, it should be indicated separately from subsequent versions.
Suspect and associate with him
Mana actively approaches Shinji, while Asuka suspects she wants information about NERV and EVA. The core of the opening is the suspicion of how it affects campus interactions, not treating unrevealed identities as established facts. Third New Tokyo City was bombed but no NERV dispatched orders, linking the transfer student incident to the city's anomalies.
The special edition's system
The Windows Special adds over 99 new saves, thumbnail confirmations, and read scene playbacks, along with original mechanical lightning depicted in 3D films. 1894×1024 are the highest material specifications announced in the announcement and should not be considered fixed resolution for each machine's actual output.
ARTWORKS and Signatures
The special edition includes 20 pages of full-color artworks, including character designs by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, illustrations by game animation director Sadashi Hiramatsu, PS2 version illustrations by Kyoji Yamaguchi, and mechanical materials by Ikuto Yamashita. The responsibilities for GAINAX development and CyberFront publishing were retained separately.
