"Gensokyo: Presumption of Guilt ~ The Pansy Before Dawn" is an Eastern Project suspense visual novel produced by Xirang Games. Ancient villages and influence
The Village of Human Living retains the Edo style, combining onmyō magic, barriers, and spells. Order in the village is maintained by three major families, with English announcements listing Minamoto, Kirisame, and Hieda; Changing times have gradually exposed conflicts between forces inside and outside the village.
A series of events
Mysterious festivals, sacred trees, curses, rumors, and murder cases intertwine. The protagonist originally knew very little about Gensokyo, gradually approaching the buried history of the investigation. The story also portrays the struggles of ordinary people amid mutations from the perspective of Joro Clan, who are at the bottom of society.
Characters and narrative
The work uses both original characters and Touhou original characters, focusing on their situations within the worldview. Cooperation and conflict between families are connected to individual encounters; Familiarity with identities in the original work does not directly replace the character relationships in this work.

A college student searching for his sister and a suspect in the murder
Original: College student Hayashi Hara, who is involved in an incident while searching for his sister, is taken to Gensokyo by the Gap Youkai, becoming the suspect in the 2008 summer murder case. He sets out under the scrutiny of the vigilante chief Fujiwara Moku and witnessed by the sage Kamishirasawa Keine, with the original girl Fujii Ruri accompanying him.
The different powers of the three families
The three families in the Human Village each take on different responsibilities: the Minamoto family handles barriers and seals, the Kirisame family acts as the side of military checks and balances, and the Hieda family handles historical inheritance and religious authority. The wolf horde was at the bottom of the three families' rule. In this work, Agu Hieda is the 14-year-old reincarnation of O-Ari, and she also carries the mission of passing on history.
The scope of investigation in the following chapters
The entire work is progressed through six major chapters. The first three chapters revolve around the folklore and case investigations of the people. After the fourth chapter, more original characters from the Eastern novel enter the story, expanding the scope of the investigation.
Scope of the trial version chapters
The October 2024 demo update added Chapter 2 and a story tree, and in November, Chapter 3 was added. In the announcement for Chapter 3, the production team explained that the first three chapters form a complete set of events; The demo content for this phase is marked separately from the later six-chapter official version.
