Before transferring schools
A one-month deadline means that meetups, after-school, and weekend dates all have clear time boundaries. The game revolves around the protagonist's interactions with nine girls, with daily events changing according to relationship status and seasons. A single process cannot see all events of the same person.
Schedule and capacity
The protagonist has five abilities that are set at the start and retained until the end; The focus of daily operations is on where to go, not on repeatedly training stats. Weekdays are divided into two periods: recess, lunch break, and after school. Players choose locations during these periods to meet people they want to talk to.
Two relationship indicators
Degree of love represents romantic feelings, while intimacy indicates the degree of familiarity with friends; the two vary accordingly. Sister Misaki provides a two-dimensional review chart: Spending time together and becoming friends doesn't necessarily mean you're in a romantic relationship. The same character will show different events depending on the combination of the two indicators.
A conversation on the way home from school
After meeting the target person near the entrance or school gate, you can invite her to come home together. During the journey, choose a topic from 27 conversational commands to keep the conversation going until the end of the journey, and try to arrange the next meeting. The topic should align with the other person's interests and current relationship.
Familiar classmates
Ayane Katsuragi excels academically, musically, and athletically; Nozomi Hirose was a childhood friend who loved painting; Ikumi Goto focuses her life on athletics and Olympic dreams; Tomoko Honda loves books and also takes care of her beloved dog. The interests of several people influence the meeting place and the content of the conversation.
Juniors, seniors, and other schools
Namiya is Misaki's classmate and friend; Chiharu Kasuga is responsible for discipline; Midori Amano is active in summer routines; and Shinobu Kusanagi is the senior in the aikido club. Yurika Mizutani comes from Shiryuri Girls' Academy and comes to Aozora High School to use the swimming pool.
Helpers and versions
Misaki is the protagonist's younger sister, and Ms. Saeko is the homeroom teacher who teaches English. In the original version, neither of them is considered romantic partners. The Misaki dismissal and date incident mentioned in the official website review belongs to the later R version. The original was also released as PlayStation The Best on November 19, 1998.
