The script and storyboards of "The Song of Sowing."
"Song of Sowing" once considered handing most of the production to Kazuki alone, but later invited other creators to participate in the design. After switching to team production, he could no longer change materials at any time like his personal works; He accepted Shimada's suggestion for train travel before writing, replacing the original idea of walking across the country. After Yow and Shimada pointed out that Misuzu's personality was weak, he added speech habits to the character and adjusted the entire dialogue, then repeatedly discussed and toned down the overly strong parts.
In 'Song of Sowing,' there is a scene where a character straddles the scene, and Kazuki initially thought words were enough to explain it. Yow pointed out that the characters' positions could still be misunderstood, so he added visual explanations. In the interview, Kazuki listed this revision as a specific learning experience that made the scene easier to understand.
Kazuki first organizes the plot outline, then draws a sketch similar to manga storyboards, checks whether the scenes are interesting, and then writes the script. During the production of "The Song of Sowing," he sketched about 800 sheets, checking the positions, movements, light and shadow, and color contrasts of characters; Additionally, write on the whiteboard what happens both inside and outside the frame, track the actions of non-featured characters, and then decide the sequence of shots and information. Yow combines these drafts with plot outlines to confirm scenes, which are then used to commission illustrations from designers.
Recording communication for 'Song of Sowing.'
During the recording of "Song of Sowing," Minami Iinuma spoke with Kazuki when Misuzu's image was uncertain, gradually grasping the role through his consideration of the listener and choice of words. The special tasteful expressions in Misuzu's lines are also explained by Kazuki in terms of context and tone; Hayase Yukimi recalled, repeatedly urging Tsumugi to be more natural, and finally spoke in a tone closer to normal.
In a retrospective of the cast of 'Song of Sowing,' Mutsumi Tamura recalled that Kazuki often asked Hiruko to be more harsh and entangled. During recording, Tamura had to respond to the screenwriter's specific demands for expressive intensity.
