Live demonstrations of sound planning according to the visuals
Kimitaka Matsumae created a demonstration voice for the short animation "Rokepe" using Rugi Uraru during the MEBIC event on August 4, 2016. He first planned the musical segments based on key shots, adjusting the tempo and number of measures based on the time the aliens appeared, so the music would conclude at the right moment.
When creating sound effects, he personally recorded the sounds of eating, then layered them with chewing sounds from the sound effects library. The rocket sound combines explosions with airplane sounds, using a sampler to control pitch and convey the sensation of flying upward.
A refreshed 2020 anthology
When organizing "Anata ga Kitsune BEST + 40TRACKS," Matsumae re-pieced and connected almost all the tracks, balancing early experimental interests with the quality of later works.
Early sound experiments
As a teenager, he repeatedly transcribed and layered sounds using an educational tape recorder, his brother's tape recorder, and a homemade mixer. Speaking about early experiments, Matsumae also said that whenever he encountered an interesting sound, he would first record an improvised version and then continue layering new sounds.
