In "The Quartet Beyond the Azure," a fictional aerial competition where flying shoes compete for points within a three-dimensional area, combining speed, positioning, and close-range back-touch offense and defense.
Competition and off-field coaching
Flying Circus (FC) is an aerial competition using flying shoes like a glac. Contestants wear special flight suits and compete for points within a three-dimensional flight zone within a time limit.
The off-field coach seconds give instructions and suggestions to the athletes via headphones. Opponents can come from any direction, and their basic duty is to help players locate opponents outside their field of vision.
Close-range offense and defense and equipment
Dogfight aims to hit the opponent's back, but can also prevent points by moving away from melee. When both sides make contact, the anti-gravity force causes them to bounce off, and the direction of the bounce also affects the next tactical move.
The sleeves of the flight suit can serve as a floating bag in case of a malfunction and falling into the sea.
Three competition styles
Speeder tends to score by quickly touching buoys and avoiding close combat. It has slow initial speed but high top speed, but is not good at sharp turns. Fighter focuses on short-distance continuous crossover and back-touch points, with fast initial velocity but low top speed. An all-rounder is somewhere in between, handling the situation in a balanced manner.
Tactical changes in the route and aftermath
In the original, Misaki used her back-to-ground flight to break Saki's birdcage tactic of occupying the top spot. In the final game of the Asuka route in the Perfect Edition, a matchup mode with the balancer disabled appears.
EXTRA2 continues Misaki's path, with tactical changes centered around competing for advantageous positions. In her final match against Shinfuji, Misaki used a diagonal shortcut and closed in with a fake Air Kick Turn.
Daily shoes and racing shoes
The appearance of everyday flight shoes is similar to regular shoes, with functions installed on the sole and heel. Racing shoes are specifically designed for flight, suitable for Speeder, All-rounder, and Fighter respectively.
