Habu Snake Village
After the midnight alarm sounded, the mountain village was surrounded by red seawater. The villagers and unexpected visitors are caught up in strange incidents, and the villagers gradually become corpses. The familiar village environment still exists, but daily life is now governed by otherworldly rules.
Three intertwined days
The game features ten playable characters, allowing players to experience intersecting events over three days from different locations. More than twenty people appear, including villagers and outsiders; The number of players and the number of players are two different statistical ranges. Kyo Suda is also a main character, played by Mitsuaki Shinoda.
Vision capture
Sightjack, known in English as 'Sightjack,' allows players to view the field of view of both friendly and enemy teams. When you need to avoid zombies or assess your surroundings, this ability provides information beyond the character's own perspective. Where other characters are looking also affects the player's judgment of the danger ahead.
Music
The 2023 release of "SIREN ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK (2023 Remaster)" includes thirty tracks and offers digital releases including high-resolution audio. The original soundtrack "Sacred Song of the Gods" was written by Naoko Sato and composed by Hitomi Shimizu; 《THE BUSTER! All lyrics and compositions credited to Noriyuki Asakura are credited to him.
Subsequent transplantation
The PS4/PS5 versions released on October 15, 2024, are based on the PS2 version, adding rewind, quick save, screen filters, and rendering enhancements. It is a different product from the 2023 original soundtrack: the former is a game port, the latter is a music master remaster.
The original game's sound concept
Chelsea's English translation of the sound director's interview shows the team first used sustained bass to convey the sense of enclosure in Hanyu Snake Village, then layered the corresponding sound in the visuals; Memory limitations also changed voice from real-time effects to sentence-by-sentence pre-made files.
Long loops and references of the original score
When composing the original version, the SCE sound director requested that musical sounds and prominent musical expressions be avoided as much as possible, maintaining the ambient atmosphere with a long loop of over five minutes and minimal variation, and incorporating Japanese elements. Hitomi Reimizu imagined the scene based on photos and scripts before the development screen was yet visible.
The initial meeting regarded human voices as an important element expressing the indigenous beliefs of Hanyu Snake Village; Cold Water scatters sound into the soundtrack, placing it in unexpected places, intending to cause unease.
