Summer invitation

About a year and a half after the experience at the Snow Mountain Hotel, Tohru, who lives in Tokyo, and Mari, who has moved to Hokkaido, receive invitations to travel on August 15th and 16th. Hope seeks an opportunity to reunite with truth; The innkeeper Kobayashi also joined the group after hearing about it. After boarding, the three learned that their destination was not the ordinary vacation spot they had imagined.

The past of the island and the mansion

Mikazuki Island has a private prison built by the local old Kishi Saru family, which has caused it to be shunned by the locals. Inside the Mikazukikan, traces of iron fences and old facilities can still be seen, and rumors of abuse of servants and the decline of the family have surfaced. After the storm sealed off the mansion, a guest was killed, and the scars made True Recall the nursery rhyme the boatman had told.

Branching and reading aids

Choices lead to different storylines, and the official murder case is just one of them. The game uses 3D scenes, looping images, and character silhouettes to assist text expression, and provides flowcharts and memory review features to help players organize branches and rethink clues. The original PS2 version was released in 2002, while subsequent budget editions and PSP specials were released separately.

Old acquaintances and new guests at the gathering

Tohru wants to use travel to deepen his relationship with Mari, while Jiro is uninvited and accompanies his niece. Old colleagues from the guesthouse, Toshio and Midori, and colleagues from the Tokyo company, Kanako and Keiko, also come to the island; The differing attitudes of composer Murakami, game producer Masaoka, and operator Kayama made communication at gatherings not always harmonious.

The mysterious inviter and the mansion

The name on the invitation is the same as the real author's, but the guest does not know its origin. The housekeeper Kiyo manages the mansion alone, serving the head of the house; Mikazukikan was originally a private prison for the Kishizaru family, with a C-shaped corridor, two towers, iron gates, and iron windows still retaining traces of its original use.

Locations on the island

Mikazuki Island, also known as Prison Island, has an artificial lake on the east side built during the Meiji period, while the abandoned village on the west side is said to have disappeared during the Edo period. The northeastern Kazafuri Hashiki Shrine enshrines the Takami Kata no Kami, and the winds and waves in the story and old legends unfold at these locations.

Reading and two-player play

During reasoning, you can borrow the memory of the metaphor to review clues, and flowcharts help track the different stories formed by choices. Additionally, the two simultaneously performed the Love Tester compatibility diagnosis arc, with 3D characters and looping films providing partial screen performance.

PS2 release records

The original was released on July 18, 2002, as a single DVD; The PlayStation 2 The Best edition released on April 3, 2003, also includes a special video CD.

PSP Special Edition: Massacre Arc

In the PSP special edition, the Massacre Arc, a heartbeat sounds after certain choices, and the failure outcome also diverges.

PS2: Variable branching graphics

Unlike the fixed-position PS flowchart of the previous game, this one's flowchart changes shape depending on your choices and progression. Unseen branches can no longer be inferred solely from blank positions in fixed drawings.

PS2: Stage determination for two dates

Dating has multiple stages: if compatibility is good, it moves to the next stage; if not, it ends midway, and the diagnosis is finally revealed. Therefore, the pairing they answered also decided whether they could continue experiencing the dating scenes that followed.
