Illustration production after draft approval
In a 2022 interview, BUNBUN described that after receiving content requests, he first sketched in CLIP STUDIO PAINT, then reviewed and colored by component, then colored layer by layer, and finally Photoshop to process blur and overlay effects.
Arrange line art layers according to movement and depth
During the sketch stage, he layered movements based on amplitude and depth, allowing the tip of the sword, arm, and body to apply varying degrees of blur and shaking; This arrangement also facilitates subsequent processing and corrections.
Determine the shadow color for each part separately
When applying shadows, he prefers to paint directly within the color layers of each component. Because layering shadows uniformly can make the skin and other areas look the same tone, he will choose colors and contrasts according to the needs of each area.
A cover concept inspired by the Starry Sky Ensemble
After the title was decided, Shuangyue suggested to BUNBUN the direction of the cover for looking up at the starry sky with her companions during the journey; The companion being depicted as an orc is the artist's way of extending this requirement.
