Narration and characters
'ワッカ' is the name the protagonist uses for the band's activities, with the public text signed under Kobayashi ワッカ. He is a law student, and his friend Riko Tomo (Yuri) attends the same university's Faculty of Commerce. The two get along due to their shared interests in rock music. Rie Sakurai (リエ) is his colleague, and the two grew closer through online contact and interactions like cherry blossom viewing. Hotaru is a friend he met online and later met offline, and he is also the listener of his stories.
Lily's choice
Wakka and Yuri progress from chatting to playing together, and they develop feelings for each other. Yuri already has a boyfriend and asks to stop meeting him alone to avoid betraying him. After Wakka confessed, she admitted she liked him but still refused to let go of their relationship; The two agreed to remain friends.
Dating Rie
Three days after being rejected by Yuri, Wakka begins dating Rie. He still cares about Yuri, but relies on companionship from another relationship. In her recollections, Rie hopes to maintain a close connection, but he becomes increasingly resistant to responding; Their needs did not align. At their last meeting, he returned the ring and left, saying the person he once liked had just broken up with his boyfriend, never admitting that he no longer loved Rie before receiving that email.
Self-reflection after saying goodbye
Hotaru pointed out that he interpreted leaving as a choice forced by love, but in reality, he was avoiding responsibility for hurting the other person. Wakka admitted this, but still used an incompletely honest reason in his farewell email. On the way home, Rie sends her final apology and understanding; he cries bitterly and reflects on his own weakness. The ending ends at the moment he realizes his mistake.
