Data recovery and division of labor for remastered music
Remastered soundtrack first retrieved music data from DLT tapes in LucasArts/Disney archives. Jory Pram extracted using an old Mac and SCSI device; The entire search and recovery process took at least about two months.
The Sony Sound team recorded live vocals and remixed jazz for about 45 minutes, Pyramind replaced about 45 minutes of old music samples, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra recorded about half an hour of orchestral music. McConnell was involved in arrangement, sampling replacement, mixing, and auditing; Camden Stoddard mixes music with ambient sounds for gaming.
During the remastering, McConnell reopened the 1997 recording project in the new Pro Tools to organize the recordings recovered from the tape.
Freely tempo instrumentation and segmented recording
Some of the original music is played at a free tempo in the sequencer, without quantification by measure. During the remake, McConnell organized the actual sections, and the team recorded and assembled the music in segments to preserve the original flow.
He organizes melodies and voices in the Sibelius, then hands them over to the composer to check the stacking and dynamic markings; During recording, watch live performances in Australia, provide feedback, and have the orchestra perform and record again.
