Travel themes and references for AOD mascots
After being commissioned to illustrate the mascot for AOD 2015, p19 combined her usual animal-eared girl with the theme of her first trip to San Francisco, having the character carry a mailbag containing postcards. She asked her pet friends for photos as animal ear references, and the mascot's cat ears were taken from a friend who owns multiple cats.
Paper-and-pencil trial and error and clothing materials
p19 In a 2015 interview, I compared my experience with pen and paper painting: Digital painting can be repeatedly erased and redone, while pen and paper tends to leave traces, so it requires more focused attention; Line connections and paint mixing can also lead to results that deviate from the initial expectations. In terms of fashion design, she references fashion magazines, everyday wear, and the clothes she wants to wear, preserving a realistic wearable feel while considering fashion changes.
Karen's design attempt at "KARAKARA."
According to Nachi Kio's 'KARAKARA' development column, Karen is a character type that is less drawn in P19, and her design took more time than usual. After the image was set, P19 continued to show her more active moves.
A new painting combination from the original art collection
In an interview published in February 2015, p19 introduced three new illustrations for the original art collection planned for publication at the time. The cover features a fox-eared girl; Expand the illustration at the reader's request, letting cat-eared, rabbit-eared, and fox-eared characters live together, creating a warm atmosphere.
