Early game development practices
In an interview published in December 2022, Nagaoka recalled that he had tried doujin game development with friends in high school, but this practice was never completed. Around 1990, after joining HARD, he took on key animation and CG work for 'Hacchake Ayayo-san 2.'
Key drawing, shadow assignment, and color transition
Looking back on his early work, Kenzo Nagaoka said that to save costs, he would first draw the original drawings and assign shadows, then have the outsourced team color, and finally finish the work himself; The external color is seamlessly integrated with the pre- and post-processing of the original artwork.
Promotional illustrations for magazine brochures
Kenzo Nagaoka once designed a foldout poster for a bishoujo game magazine. In his 2022 review, he explained that at the time, such illustrations were often used as promotional advertisements for manufacturers, making them different from ordinary drawing commissions where publishers paid royalties.
