A school you can't live without
The protagonist cannot leave the school because there is no preparation outside the school background; Other male characters don't have character illustrations, so they can't enter the story. What was originally a lack of game development becomes a practical constraint on the characters' lives here. School seems like a familiar stage for romance, but there is no everyday world for the protagonist to return to.
Performers and observers
The protagonist knows he is being forced to play the lead role and, like the audience, observes the story's progression. When he encounters clues that seem foreshadowing, he will proactively think, investigate, and offer explanations before the script is officially revealed. This keeps his actions clashing with a pre-set narrative rhythm.
Dialogue and willpower
The female leads around him often only react within a fixed range, and he considers the usual romantic scenes and the protagonist's special treatment suspicious rules. The challenges he faces include how to leave the scene, whether he can truly communicate with others, and whether his personal will can break free from the author's arrangements. The work creates conflict through the form of games themselves.
Creating concepts
In the completion announcement on January 19, 2010, the author described the work as the starting point of a serious imagined human being placed in a two-dimensional world, summarizing it with the term "metametafiction." The production spanned two years, with actual work taking about a year, and hand-painted backgrounds were the time-consuming part.
