Returning to his hometown
After leaving his hometown for many years, Nan Wang was admitted to Langrun University in the area, where he met Big K and his girlfriend Cheng Ke. The three spent their sophomore years together; After summer vacation and returning to school, Nan Wang found that their familiar relationship had changed. He had to face the grieving Cheng Ke and also encounter the mysterious girl at Big K's family dinner.
Cheng Ke and Big K
Cheng Ke serves as the president of the drama club. He appears gentle but has a stubborn personality, and was originally in a romantic relationship with Big K. Big K excelled in theoretical research and joined the university's SAR program as soon as his freshman year. Nanwang is both a friend and a participant in the event, caught up in the changes between the two.
Ruoyu from the Conservatory
Li Ruoyu is a second-year student in the piano department at the Conservatory of Music, working as an accompanist in the choir club and passionate about classical music. She is quiet and well-educated, forming two different sides of campus life with Cheng Ke's drama club life. The interactions between characters connect music, drama, and daily learning.
Production and series
The work was produced by Studio 286. Li Ruoyu is voiced by Shan Xin, Cheng Ke by Cheng Yuan, and Big K by Bian Jiang. The sequel, "Ballad 2: Promise Under the Starry Sky," places Yuwen Shuo, also known as Big K, as the protagonist, while Nan Wang appears as his roommate and friend.
Ruoyu Line's childhood and performance
After a fire, Nanwang was briefly blinded. Ruoyu accompanied him through the predicament, and the two practiced roller skating together. After Ruoyu was taken away by her parents, their separation led to the birth of Echo. Years later, when they reunited, Echo interfered with Ruoyu during a study abroad performance, and the blows from the concert and study abroad worsened her situation.
Hospital rescue with an old roller rink
In Ruoyu's storyline, in the happy ending, Nanwang does not want her to be sent to a psychiatric hospital, so he takes her away to the roller skating rink and cave of her childhood. The two completed the flying trapeze again and resolved their emotional knots; Ruoyu and Echo reunited, and Nanwang expressed his feelings.
Reporting and Cheng Kexian's return
In Ruoyu-related storylines, Cheng Ke, worried about Nanwang's departure, filmed their intimate behavior and reported it to the school, publicly exposing Ruoyu's personality issues. Both were expelled from the agency. Cheng Kexian revolves around Nan Wang's confession; She retracted her previous decision, took a year off from school, and returned to the drama club to become Nan Wang's girlfriend.
Two lines with a bad ending
The 2011 official iOS version features two tragic endings where the male lead dies: in the Cheng Ke arc, Nan Wang falls off a cliff; in the Ruo Yu arc, he dies in a roller skating accident. These results are developed separately with their corresponding good endings.
Piano pieces and set music
"Sunset" is played by Ruoyu six days before the shared story, marking the musical climax of the first section; The "Narrative in B Minor" unfolds in segments following the subsequent plot. The art center, school, and shopping street each have corresponding scene soundtracks. The 2019 Steam Original Soundtrack included seventeen tracks, with "Sunset" on track 9 and "Ballad in B minor" on track 12.
