"Summer in Northeast China" is a free Chinese visual novel produced by Zhuang Buchun Studio. Following his parents' wishes, the protagonist comes to Shenyang to make a living, befriends two small internet celebrities, Huniu and Daojiang, and gets involved in their interactions with the leader of Shamate.

Arrived in Shenyang
The story begins with life in a foreign land and new relationships. The protagonist does not enter the city with grand plans, but rather meets local people by chance during his struggles. Huniu, Dao Jiang, and the Shamate leader are the main interactions, with their online identities and real-life interactions simultaneously participating in this summer experience.
Urban scenes
The creators used real Shenyang locations as the background for drawing, making the specific city the space for character activities. The development introduction also mentioned that compared to the early release, it adds scenes, CG, and subsequent storylines. The street scenes and character dialogues together form the local character of the work, while the early access and main versions correspond to different stages of development.
Dubbing and publishing
The work provides Chinese character voice acting. The author introduced that the actors were selected from more than twenty applicants, including experienced voice actors and studio newcomers, including locals from Northeast China. The game was released for free on Steam on January 9, 2023, and the development team also introduced the development process through their own video accounts.
Assistants and two camps
Xiaoliang comes to Shenyang to work hard, and after meeting Hu Niu and Dao Jiang, he becomes their assistant. The Shamate Captain sent his disciples Black Bull and White Bull to challenge; Although Bainiu is at odds with Huniu, he is still treated to visit Shenyang and buy milk tea to thank him. Faction conflicts interspersed with the daily life of several people in the city.
Four years later, the additional storyline
The author explained the promotional title "Summer of Northeast China 2" as an additional plot for the main game, with a timeline set four years later, and the text and CG content are similar to the original. This content was updated on May 17, 2023, without the need to purchase a separate new standalone title.
Backflip accident and reenactment plan
Xiao Liang once lost his memory due to a backflip injury, forgetting his filming experiences and old friends. His parents and friends arranged for Xiao Liang to return to Shenyang to reenact the familiar scene. When the troupe leader asks if these experiences feel familiar to Xiao Liang, the main storyline reveals the purpose of the performance; Xiaoliang eventually regains his memory and reunites with everyone.
Clues to recall in everyday scenes
The animation merchandise in Daojiang's room is arranged according to Xiaoliang's preferences; The duck plush toys in the claw machine are used to evoke memories of Donald Duck, and the machines are reserved in advance by everyone. The props used for Tiger Girl's brick-splitting were hidden by the troupe leader, who even acted in the rain to reenact and fell ill the next day. Revisiting the old place also includes Dao Jiang taking Xiao Liang to eat noodles with Bai Niu, and telling stories of Tiexi Industry at the Heavy Duty Cultural Square.
The May update is a retrospective operation
The May update adds eight achievements for the main story and four achievements for additional storylines. The menu now appears when the mouse is near the bottom right corner. The history interface supports clicking text to jump to progress; In announcements on May 17 and 19, the author explained that updating related materials would render old saves under this mechanic invalid.
