Setting out again after being cut short

Kenji attends the private Toji Academy and hides his identity as a professional manga artist from those around him. Once hailed as a genius, his serialization in the weekly magazine 'コ믹ックチャーム' ended, and his career hit a low point. He hopes to continue balancing his studies and creative work, rather than letting a single failure become the end.

Sister and editor-in-chief

His older sister Chika is also Kenji's editor-in-chief. To repromote Alice Ijuin, she proposed having her brother cross-dress and promote himself as a beautiful shoujo manga artist. This adds another layer of public persona to the previously hidden pen name, with the story centered around creation, school life, and identity disguise.

Creative Goals and Production

Kenji wanted to create manga that transcended the boundaries of boys and girls, allowing different groups to read together. The script was written by Hoshi Hoshi, with Akaza responsible for the key animation; The official sales page lists R as an all-ages Windows title.

PC version production and casting

The PC version of R was produced by Giza10, with Akaza as illustrator, Hoshi as screenwriter, directed by TOMO and Yuzumitsu, and also credited as producer by TOMO. Voiced by Rina Akizuki, Hisui Hatori, Chika Kamio, Kaede Shidou, and Haruka Takasugi, by Yuri Yuzuhara, Junko Nakata, Hiromi Sakurai, Erika Narumi, and Ringo Aoba, respectively.

Other characters and specifications

The cast also includes Sayaka Daisu, Juzo Katsuoka, Ryuna Iwahara, as well as the editor-in-chief and deputy editor-in-chief, with Ringo Aoba and Kenpei Yamamoto playing different roles. The work is for general readers and recommended manga artists aged 17 and above, using DVD-ROM and supporting Windows XP/Vista/7.
