Catalog structure
The anthology is divided into seven titles. The "Female Lead Short Story Collection" actually contains six short stories: one each for Junka, Renhime, Chizuru, and Kei, while Meiya is divided into two parts. Therefore, when counting independent stories, there are twelve in total. Together with photonmelodies♮, it has compiled spin-offs previously scattered across Windows titles and re-released the console version.
Campus Edition
'Before the Cherry Blossoms Bloom' continues the original Sumikatsu's route, depicting life after Takekaka Shirogane and Kagami become lovers. Although they grew up as childhood friends living next door, they would still argue over trivial matters after dating, even dragging the whole class into turmoil. The short story collections for the female lead focus on the daily lives of different characters, and together with the former, form the campus segment of the anthology.
The battlefield and the journey home
"Atonement" traces Marimo Jinguu's experience of giving up teaching and turning to the military; "Confession" supplements Michiru Isumi's memories during Operation Ko-21 to describe her trainee days. 'Inheritance' depicts Akira Isumi returning home after surviving the battlefield, facing the news of casualties with his sisters. The eldest sister Yayoi works in the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the third sister Marika is also a guard, but this time they were deployed to the Second Defense Line.
Orbital descent with the European front
"Chicken Divers" centers on the wait before orbital paratrooper Henri Gizen's third descent. Orbital descent is a high-risk mission, and the story takes place inside the ship before re-entering the atmosphere. "Rain Dancers" shifts to November 1995 on the Italian peninsula: Monica Giacosa joins the Rain Dance squadron in Operation Bootstrap, resting briefly at an abandoned church. She is also VG's older sister in Total Eclipse.
Versions and music
The PS3 version was released on April 24, 2014, rated CERO D, and some chapters' protagonists have no voice lines. The Steam version was released on August 2, 2019, and is available for Windows. PS3 opening theme song "Hikari no Hana" is sung, written, and composed by Masami Okui, arranged by Daichi Suzuki.
Chicken Divers: Risks before the third descent
The official introduction of "Chicken Divers" states that the survival rate for orbital drops is about 20%, and that no one has participated in the fourth descent. Henri was aboard the reentry destroyer, awaiting Operation A-21, which would be his third atmospheric descent.
