"Blade Flashing in the Darkness" is a Japanese-style legendary visual novel created by Kageboshi. The young samurai Katakura Juuzou marries Nakamura Hotaru, the daughter of a merchant family, and together they face adversity as the samurai era comes to an end.

The warrior and the merchant's daughter
Shigezo Katakura comes from a poor background, while Hotaru Nakamura is the only daughter of a merchant family. Their meeting and marriage form the heart of the story: two people with different identities and life experiences grow together, supporting each other in the face of changing circumstances. The work uses the narrative background of a period drama, while also incorporating sword combat and supernatural abilities.
Reading Form
This work uses a linear narrative without any route branches and was produced using the Jirigiri 2. The author estimates the reading time is about ten hours.
Relationship with Shadow Priest's first work
This work is a prequel to 'Riding the Melody That Flows,' and both works share the same worldview. The author explains that each story is independent, with no reading order restricted, and recommends this work to readers who are hesitant about which to start with.
Chapter Release and Complete Edition
The first episode was first released on C77 on December 30, 2009, and the online version was released on January 13, 2010. Episodes 2 and 3 appeared in 2010's C78 and C79, respectively; The completed version was released on August 13, 2011, with the C80. On December 31 of the same year, C81 released a special episode, and the following year, 'Running Fate, Flowing World' was COMITIA100 released.
Free re-release and resource packs
After the early physical release, Shadow Wizard re-released this game and the first game as free software. Freem version 2.00 was registered on January 26, 2022. The club timeline also records the release of "Shadow Wizard's Treasure Box" on January 30, 2022, compiling related materials and original soundtracks from both works.
