Li Meiyuan and the letter

At 17, Li Meiyuan found it hard to trust those around her; those closest to her were mainly her mother and her childhood friend Yuqing. A letter that suddenly appeared led her to a heinous case that occurred more than ten years ago in Qinshan Port City. The old case is not an isolated incident. As the investigation progresses, more individuals and years of connection gradually emerge, and Li Meiyuan's own background is also drawn into it.

Investigation and chapters

The game uses textual narration combined with investigation, clue collection, and puzzles. Players need to compare information provided by characters to find evidence that explains the scene and old events; Chapters open according to progress, and choices can lead the story to different endings. The game also adopts an observer's perspective, allowing players to revisit past events.

Three ways to play

The "novel style" retains the story and investigative experience, allowing skipping mini-games like puzzles, suitable for reader-focused players. "Play style" emphasizes collecting evidence and solving puzzles. The works also offer a "realistic style" as another experiential option. The chapter menu includes an expression generator for collectibles, allowing you to combine character portraits and expressions.

Source of the soundtrack

The work uses ready-made musical material, with the author's page listing Matti Paalanen's "Photograph" from Frozen Silence's album "Impressions"; Also included are nine tracks including Kevin MacLeod's "Awaiting Return," "Dark Fog," and "The Complex." Kevin MacLeod's tracks are marked with a CC BY 3.0 license in the author's notes; they are not original soundtracks created specifically for this game.

Platform and adaptation

The original Orange Light and later Steam versions were released separately; the Steam version was published by Orange Light Games in November 2018. The author also linked to the manga adaptation of the same name on the work page.
