Setting out for the sky

The story is set in the near future where flying gradually approaches everyday life. The Space Science Society, which originally lacked active activities, needed to prove its worth through competitions. Airframe building, pilot training, and campus life intertwine; members share responsibilities under common goals and build deeper relationships during preparation.

Main character route

The original PC arc revolved around Tomokatsu Miyamae, Himuka Nakano, Kokei Tsuyazaki, Sayako Koga, and Mariya Hanami. The choice of route depends on whether the protagonist invests time in flight training or in crafting the aircraft, and the experiences of different characters gradually unfold along with these daily divisions of labor. The work arranges personal relationships within a single club program.

Differences in additional content

Subsequent additions include some characters joining Another Story or epilogues, and adding routes for Chidori Mizumi and Minoru Uemura. The 2012 PSP "ORIGINAL FLIGHT" also featured its own characters and story arrangements, including content related to Masumi Kashii. The original PC main game, additional content, and PSP version must be introduced separately; not all subsequent routes are included at the time of initial release.

Division of labor and competition among associations

Pengxia is responsible for piloting, Yangxiang builds and maintains the unit, Lakeview writes control programs, Sayako coordinates activities, and the instructor provides technical guidance. Kuuta gathers several partners skilled in different fields to compete with the Aviation Department for a spot in the competition; Aviation Minister Mariya later assisted with training and maintenance as well. The water surface is recorded by the reporting committee for the race.

PSP personal route

Pengxia attempts high-difficulty flights, Yangxiang faces a new control technology failure, Lakeview suffers a relapse of illness under programming development pressure, Sayako suddenly disbands her club after the race, and Mariya and Kurata face choices arranged by their pilots. Each track links team responsibilities with individual circumstances, and the epilogue continues into the second semester.

Two new stories have been added

The water route begins with an interview, tracing an old photo between her, Sorata, and Tomoka. Masumi is a transfer student from a maritime city. Her parents are involved in developing the rail elevator base, longing for space but afraid of interacting with people; Her route led the Space Science Society to switch to meteor shower observation after failing the pre-selection.

PSP production and version

ORIGINAL FLIGHT was released on December 20, 2012, with Kureto Fukasaki and Shinobu Kurotani responsible for the key animation, and a script signed by Nanso Railway and Romeo Tanaka. Masumi and the water route were added, the original five female leads all have epilogues, and the opening and ending themes have been remade.
