Travelers on the other side of the old computer

While sorting through his late grandmother's belongings, the player opens an old computer and hears the voice of a stranger, a young girl, Natsuno. Her society collapsed half a year ago due to an infectious disease; the infected lose their sanity and attack others; The world players live in remains normal. Through communication, Natsu Nai searched for supplies while sharing stories along the way, and why this connection was established became a clue to the story.

Natsuno meets during the journey

Natsuno was originally a second-year high school student who moved north from Tokyo and became separated from classmates and parents one after another. During the journey, they also encounter the elderly and mysterious Akane, Kiko searching for her beloved dog, and Shino, who follows the photographic works to find shooting locations. They each have their own goals and may temporarily travel together during their exploration.

Exploration, supplies, and combat

The girl acts on her own and also accepts players' questions and suggestions. Explore locations including abandoned houses and campsites, where you can find food, tools, and weapons; When encountering an infected, players can prompt them to use an item. Backpack capacity is limited; the more supplies you carry, the less space you leave for new gains. Items can also be combined, processed, or used in cooking.

Development and Versions

Planning, production, and scriptwriting were credited to Kazuhide Oka, character design by Chiji, and music by ruichiro. The official website records that early access began on August 5, 2021, and was officially released on August 18, 2022, with free Windows and macOS versions. The subsequent release, 'Summer Beyond,' was based on the original main storyline, remade with Unity, and added characters, story, CG, and music; The free original version will still be retained.

Theme songs and spin-offs

The original official website offers a soundtrack preview and provides two side story short stories: 'Flowers Blooming in the Shade' and 'Finder'; The former also has a reading version. The official website link for 'Natsu no Kanata short ver.' was released under the nodoka name on September 23, 2022. Beyond released its own original soundtrack.

Flowers blooming in the shade: before meeting

The author's official short story 'Flowers Blooming in the Shade' takes place not long before Natsuno meets you. She left Tokyo for a month and continued north because the train she happened to take while fleeing was heading north. In a seaside cabin, two deceased girls still cling to each other, reminding her of an elementary school classmate: when the other moved overseas when entering middle school, they kept in touch intermittently by phone, and in high school, they became classmates. After returning to the silent road, Natsuno took out her phone without internet and tried to make a sound. For the first time, she heard your voice.

Camera: May after Shino left home

Before the story begins in the official prequel 'Finder,' Shino leaves the mountain village and lives in the city for a high school, marking his first May holiday. Junior middle school student Ami visits from his hometown, and the two meet Kimi, his high school classmate, at a café. Shino found that when he used different ways to interact with city classmates and old friends from his hometown, it was hard to connect his past and present self.

From nostalgia to photography

When trying out the camera at an electronics store, the scene on the screen recalls Shino's anticipation and unease when he first saw it. She then realized that what she feared was the gradual disappearance of her old self. Satomi described this feeling as nostalgia, and Shino smiled and made the decision: buy a camera, return to his hometown, capture his hometown, the city, and the places he would visit in the future, remembering where he once lived.

Official website pre-story: The remaining uses of mobile phones

Natsuno had previously found a generator with some fuel left and used to charge her phone. The screen can still light up, but there is no network connection; The conversation records were still accessible, but she gradually found it difficult to recapture the feeling of how she had spoken to people back then.
