Offered at the time when the cold cicadas cry and weep

Higurashi When They Cry is a collection of PC works released by 07th Expansion in 2014, featuring Higurashi, Kai, Rei, and three supplementary stories, bringing together Hinamizawa's original chapters and early ideas.

June in Hinamizawa

In 1973, Keiichi Maehara moved with his family to the remote village of Hinamizawa, spending club activities and village festivals with classmates Reina Ryugu, Mion Sonozaki, Satoko Hojo, and Rika Furute. Every year near the festival in June, strange events such as one person dying or one disappearing occur in the village; The outsider Keiichi gradually noticed that behind the joyful daily life, there were things no one wanted to reveal.

A separately released console collection edition

ENTERGRAM also released a console collection of the same name, featuring multiple chapters and additional stories from the series. The work forms a Sound Novel reading experience through text, character illustrations, backgrounds, and sound effects, with a suspenseful atmosphere drawn from recurring village daily life and changing perspectives.

Composition of the collection

The existing story revolves around a series of mysterious deaths and disappearances in Hinamizawamura. "Feng" also includes "Hinamizawa Rest Stop," "Higurashi Outbreak," and the newly written "Outbreak ~Divine Traitor Arc~," so it offers both the complete reading route of the original series and independent story branches.

Prototypes and side stories

"Hinamizawa Stop" originated from the prototype work before the birth of "Higurashi" and is the first in this collection to be adapted into a scripted performance. "Outbreak" was originally written for the publication of "Higurashi Daybreak," and "The Traitor" continued to expand on this story. The three roles are respectively revisited the prototype, a side story, and a sequel.

The incident with Hinamizawa

The main setting of the story is Hinamizawa in early summer 1983. The June festival overlaps with the annual deaths and disappearances, casting a shadow over the village's past disputes over dam construction. The daily lives of Keiichi Maehara and his friends gradually unfold into the village's hidden past.

Names and versions

Dragon Knight 07 uses the word 'dedicated' to express gratitude for readers' support and for publishing new works. The 2014 PC version adopted a dual-disc format; Later, ENTERGRAM released versions of the same name for Switch and PS4, which were another console collection. The Switch version was released on July 26, 2018, and the PS4 version on January 24, 2019.

Further additions

The 2022 Japanese PC series "Hō+" inherited these arcs and added the "Female Peeling Arc." The 2023 version of "Origin" is an additional content for the console version of "Hō" and requires a corresponding console.

2014 PC version theme song

The Japanese PC version of 'Hō' features 'あの日へ' (To That Day), sung by Yuzuki and Yasushi Kino, with lyrics co-written by dai and Kanae Sakura. Yuyue regarded it as her first official opportunity to perform in the game Higurashi.

Console 'Feng' Released Overview: Outbreak in Lockdown

The console compilation "Outbreak" begins with the detection of an unknown virus in Hinamizawa: a lockdown line appears at the county border, and protective suit personnel show up accordingly. Keiichi and Rena fight with bats and hatchets; The identities of these people and the whereabouts of Lihua remain the main questions raised in summary.

Console 'Feng' Release Summary: Gathering in the Traitor Arc

"Outbreak ~Traitor Arc~" continues the defense of Xinggong. Keiichi and his group meet the girl Sai; Meanwhile, Rika reunites with Tomitake and learns that the virus spreader is Takano. Everyone then gathers at the Sonozaki family's shelter, which brings the non-human together as well; A small misunderstanding gradually escalates into a rivalry.

Console 'Feng' Reveals Overview: Character locations at the stop

'Hinamizawa Stop' features a different character setup from the main story: Rika is a high school girl, Mion becomes her junior, and the two go together to a bus stop outside the village. The human disputes caused by the dam's construction and the local Osha-no-shin legend form the premise for this archetypal story.
