Old school
Ibuki Ran runs around searching for his girlfriend, but for some reason ends up at an old school in the forest. At first, she just wanted to leave, but the murder and the ever-increasing mystery forced her to stay and investigate the anomalies in the confined space with other parties.
Reasoning process
Players organize event information and make judgments, with some segments including attribute checks. Choosing the wrong one does not immediately end the game; the protagonist explains the issue of judgment and guides the player to re-examine the clues. The work keeps the difficulty of the reasoning relatively low, focusing on story progression and character emotions.
Backtracking system
Retrospectives allow for revisiting previous episodes. According to the developers, carefully using this system allows you to finish the story and collect all CGs in a single playthrough, without having to replay repeatedly from the beginning.
Production and performance
Orca Layout was jointly produced by foodie Hongmao and art artist Gui Jun. The visuals include depictions of corpses and murder cases, but the developers clarified that they did not use sudden jump-out images to deliberately scare people; Text and visual information together create the unease of closed schools.
Music
Xianlang HUSKY composed original music for the work, and the separately released soundtrack collection contains eleven tracks, adjusting the mood of the music according to scenes and events.
Lan's care for the family
As a child, Ibuki Ran was cared for by her mother's cousin Miho Takei and her lover Aya Toyama, gradually learning Japanese and life skills. In high school, math teacher Hinata Koizumi continued to look after her; The teacher's departure leaves Ran uneasy again, and her two family members accompany her along with Yasushi Sakura. Lan once brought Ann home and introduced her lover to the two who cared for her.
A reunion in the still rain and a confession by the sea
Still rain causes those who encounter supernatural phenomena to fall into sleep and forget, but Aiko remains unaffected. An saw Lan still conscious on the rooftop, recognized her identity, and explained to her the relationship between Aiko and his own people. The two gradually grew closer; After a seaside walk, Lan expressed her feelings at night, and the two shared a kiss. With her short lifespan, An Yi hopes to stay by her side for a long time.
The severed arm and the notebook contract
Lan is attacked by a supernatural creature and loses her left arm, and Ann calls in a blood sculpting doctor for treatment. To protect Ran, who continues to attract supernatural beings, and to seek answers to his own lifespan and emotions, An uses Ran's blood to trace back Earth's history. She then finds the notebook from her childhood home, erases the consciousness left by her grandfather inside, sends a pact with Lan's blood, and uses her own blood to enter the book, granting it the ability to rewind. Lan still hopes to embrace her lover again with her physical body, so she continues searching for a way to resurrect.
Return to reality on a journey to find someone
During the four years searching for a way to resurrect, Ran encountered various supernatural creatures and helped Aya Yano improve her sister's ability to sense Aya's abnormal condition. The poetic goddess sends her into the school world of this story. In the endgame, she regains her memory, leaves school, returns to reality to reunite with Aya Yano, and continues searching for a way to restore Sakura Yasushi's body.
