A 1978 survey

Mamoru Akasaka arrives in Hinamizawa due to the kidnapping of the grandson of the Minister of Construction. At that time, the village was embroiled in a dam construction dispute. As an outsider investigator, he approached local figures and met Rika Furute. The stage is still Hinamizawa, but the social background and observers differ from Keiichi's campus life.

Lihua's warning

Young Rinka conveys a disturbing warning to Akasaka, linking the investigation to a series of subsequent events. The questions readers raised in the first three chapters are brought back to an earlier time for re-examination; Lihua's understanding of the future becomes an important clue in this story.

Series position

This article ends the question section, and the subsequent chapters of "Solution" further respond to the previous events. The Steam version is a later released chapter product, with adaptations from comics, radio dramas, and more; The adapted product date is not the initial release date of the original game chapter.

Included in 'Cui'

This story is included in PS3/Vita's Higurashi When They Cry and is part of its nineteen-story collection, offering full voice and cross-platform archives.

The story of the latest version begins

In 1978, Akasaka went to Hinamizawa, who was opposing the dam, for a kidnapping case, and met detective Oishi and a young girl named Rika. Years later, the events revealed early clues here.

PC Original Chapter: Mahjong and Information Contact

Akasaka contacts the informant through Oishi, who decides whether to negotiate the case based on mahjong wins or losses. After Akasaka wins, she gets the chance to ride in a car and talk to learn about the case.

PC original chapter: Wallet Clues and Rescue

The wallet was found in Takatsuto, upstream of Hinamizawa, prompting further investigation. After finding the kidnappers, a fight broke out. The perpetrator escaped with the captors, while Akasaka lost consciousness due to his injuries and was sent to the hospital.

PC Original Chapter: Investigation Years Later

Akasaka later understood Rika's plea for help back then, and regretted not noticing. He and Oishi decided to continue the investigation, organizing the series of mysterious deaths and the Hinamizawa disaster into a book titled 'Higurashi no Nakoku Koro ni.'

PC Original Chapter: Bad News from Tokyo

After Akasaka arrived at the Okomiya Police Station, he learned that his wife Yukie had died in an accident on the stairs leading to the hospital rooftop. Rika's previous warning to return to Tokyo connects this to his own family's experiences.
