Descendants of the Demon King and an ancient kingdom
About 1,200 years after the end of the Bronze Age, the Holy Empire continued to annex borders, its influence extending to the old territories of ancient kingdoms. Ailin Island is invaded, and the Gaelic girl Lian Long is chosen as the sacrifice to resurrect the Demon King. Despite the ritual's mishap, Aron awakens from a long slumber and walks with her and her people. Beyond war, promises and legends left over from past eras gradually enter the story.
Companion relationships
Lian Long is a priestess skilled in prophecy, the daughter of the former clan chief, and a descendant of an ancient kingdom. After her parents died young, she was raised by her brother Arthur. Arthur, as the chief warrior of the tribe, leads the warrior corps, straightforward in character and valuing oaths. Aaron's identity makes them both the legendary Demon King and a companion they gradually get to know through their interactions; The relationship among the three forms the core of the team.
Attribute cycle and combo
The story progresses through character illustrations and event scenes, while battles are turn-based. All units have attributes, and there is a strong relationship between them; The elemental cycles on the battlefield alternate between different attributes into favorable phases, increasing the abilities of corresponding units and the power of related magic. Attacks and damage can also accumulate combo savings for additional attacks or magic enhancement. Additional attacks require on-screen prompt buttons, while enhanced magic increases power, range, or range.
Training and bases
Characters can equip up to five skills, and as proficiency increases, they can acquire more skills and ultimate moves, and skills can also be purchased from the shop. After acquiring a castle, players can use the weapon shop and item shop to recruit mercenaries and arrange training and job changes. Team development therefore involves equipment, skill combinations, classes, and combat timing.
Changes to the PSP version
PORTABLE was ported from the 2008 PS3 version, adding a DEVIL difficulty higher than HARD and introducing battle ratings for side stories. The physical PSP version was released on November 25, 2010, and the download version was launched on May 30, 2013. It retains the alternating adventure and tactical gameplay structure and cannot be considered the same release as the early PC version or the "Awalon's Mystery" spin-off.
PSP Development Period Description: Conditions for successful additional attacks
The PSP official website's development period notes state that you must have at least one Chain Stock slot to launch additional attacks; some classes cannot use it. When the attack animation shows a circular prompt, press ○ before the circle disappears; You can follow up to five additional attacks; after all hits, a special animation will trigger and deal significant damage.
PSP Development Period Notes: Consumption of enhanced magic
Enhancement magic must be used when you have at least one Chain Stock slot in combat; some magic consumes two slots. The enhancement target can be power, range, or area of effect.
PSP Development Period Notes: Learning skills and special moves
After purchasing skills from the shop, you must select and learn them from the unit menu. Equipment used to improve proficiency changes the ultimate moves learned, and characters have their own exclusive skills. The official website lists skill effects such as increasing human damage by about 10%, earning money each time you take damage, and making it easier to become enemy targets.
PSP version: Captain, chests, and proficiency
According to the PSP version development website, players can choose a leader during battle, whose abilities affect surrounding units. The captain skill automatically activates after becoming captain and enhances its effect at certain level points.
Chests on the battlefield must be opened by attack; before opening, you cannot know their contents. Event map chests may contain rare items or items that were not yet sold in the shop at the time.
The PSP version development website also states that once proficiency reaches a certain level, the amount of Chain Stock accumulated increases.
