Gray Phantom Trigger Volume 1

Grisaia Phantom Trigger Vol.1 marks the beginning of a new chapter for Frontwing. The former Mihama Academy has become a special skills training school, where a group of girls without a place to return receive training and take on dangerous combat missions.

The new Mihama Gakuen

The work shares the world setting with the Gray series but uses a new main storyline and cast of characters. The school's mission is to train special operations talent, where students hone their skills while participating in dangerous missions beyond the scope of ordinary schools.

Member of SORD

Reina is skilled in armed combat and is known as the "Mad Dog"; Tonghua is the sniper, Chris is responsible for demolition technology, Zi handles intelligence work, and Haruto commands and supervises these members. Each person forms a team with their division of labor, and school life and tasks unfold in parallel.

Find your own place

Girls are given a place to belong, yet they still have to reflect on why they survive and why they fight. They choose to take up arms and act between relying on their companions and surviving on their own strength, which builds the relationships between characters in the later volumes.

Continuous cropping format

This work adopts a Kinetic Novel format without branching paths, with character art by Akio Watanabe and Ryuta Fujisaki as the screenwriter. Steam Volume 1 was released on April 27, 2017, supporting Japanese audio as well as Japanese, English, and Chinese Simplified texts. Subsequent stories continued to be released in separate volumes.

SORD after CIRS reform

An offshore oil field explosion exposed the US-Japan counterterrorism organization CIRS, and the reformed secret operation was handed over to SORD. The new institution borrowed national schools to train defense personnel for national defense, and the idle old Mihama Gakuen was purchased by individuals and converted into a special skills training school. Ichiru Sengoku transitioned from medical and psychological warfare positions to head of the academy, becoming the driving force behind this training system.

The specific division of combat and daily life

Reina is hired to shoot for Haruto, while Touka learned marksmanship from her military father and has experience living together with her father in a civilian military company. Besides demolition and computer skills, Chris tutors classmates and takes care of dormitory chores; Zi is skilled at disguise and infiltration, and has known Haruto since childhood. Izumi Yamamoto is responsible for most weapon maintenance, while Nogami is Sengoku Ichirin's long-term assistant.

Teachers and Handlers

Haruto, as a tactical instructor and Handler leading the team, has rich combat experience but is unwilling to fully reveal his past. Arisaka Sakura takes up her post without knowing the details of the special school; her serious and ordinary approach meets the judgment of the action members.
