Two standalone stories

The collection was released for download starting February 27, 2015. Each of the two works has its own stage, characters, and author: the former begins with the army besieging a former hero, while the latter focuses on the survival and coexistence of outsiders. Character art credits include JUNNY and KeG.

Guardian of Paradise: A former comrade

Ys = Cariod commands the 12th ASB Battalion, ordered to enter the abandoned city and deal with a single enemy with only one man. This man is Julius=フォン=ククライ스트, and his longtime comrade in battle. Ys values his subordinates and mainly relies on calm judgment and command; Julius possesses strength far beyond ordinary people and is long respected as a hero who has saved countless lives. The two go from early conflicts to complementing each other, but at the beginning of the story, they are placed in opposing positions.

SB and postwar order

In this article, creatures with special abilities are collectively referred to as SBs. The struggle for this power led to a prolonged war, and postwar treaties placed the SB under United Nations administration. ASB units are responsible for responding to related incidents, with each battalion assigned to superhuman coordinated operations. Ys and Julius were both personal friends and held command and combat positions assigned by this system.

Maribel: Six Fallers

Six people from the modern world arrive on the continent of Sajer, where magic and monsters exist. Agricultural university student Yuu Kusanagi also takes on hunting and making a living, while mathematics student Midori Katase helps arrange their lives and works at a tavern. High school student Yukiko Tachibana takes care of the residence and young companions; Takaaki Gotota and Mika Kokonogi learn magic. The youngest, Fuyuki Tone, still struggles to adapt to this mutation and gradually grows closer to Yukiko.

Life in Tirendyin

The group settled at Tirendyin, a walled city. Locally, people from Earth are called 'fallen offenders.' Modern knowledge may be a source of livelihood, but living safely and gaining identity comes at a cost. Yuu also goes out of town to hunt to cover living expenses and register debts, while others learn the city's work and rules. The six people differ in age, skills, and adaptability, resulting in different divisions of labor in their shared life.

Characters and chapters

At the heart of Guardians of Paradise is the partnership and rupture between Ys and Julius; "Maribel Tells Dad She's Dead" unfolds the group story through the experiences of six people migrating. Both titles are actual titles of included works, each with its own character and worldview.
