Rough draft and overlay line editing from 2019

In a 2019 interview, Kei Mochizuki first decided the pose by using circles and crosses, then drew detailed rough sketches, line art, color separation, and shading. If the lines are too thick or too excessive after coloring, she overwrites and corrects them during the finishing stage, reducing the need to revisit the line art and revise it step by step.

She zooms in to view the whole picture, checking the direction of the gaze and the position of the strengths and weaknesses. The thickness of the lines varies according to the material, softness, and emphasis needed; Color is applied as flat as possible to keep the brush lines prominent.
